Wonderland Lisboa is the largest Christmas Market in Lisbon, and a must-see if you want to soak up the Christmas atmosphere! In this guide, you’ll learn everything you need to know to make the most of your visit.

The Wonderland Lisboa Christmas market is great for foodies and anyone who loves the holidays, but kids love it too! You can meet Santa, ride the Ferris wheel and even go ice skating! Every year, this event turns the city into a magical scene straight out of a Christmas story.

Discover how to get there, when it’s open and what to see. Plus, I’ll share my insider tips on when to go to avoid the crowds and where to find the best treats. This year, it runs from November 28th, 2025, to January 4th, 2026.

What is Wonderland Lisboa?

Wonderland Lisboa is the largest Christmas market in Lisbon, located in Parque Eduardo VII. The park transforms into one of the city’s best Christmas markets each year! It’s organised by TVI and NIU, and Wonderland Lisboa has been awarded the title of “Best Sunny Christmas Market in Europe” by the prestigious European Best Destinations.

You can visit the market for free, and there are plenty of stalls, sparkling lights and places to eat. There are also some rides, such as a Ferris wheel, a merry-go-round and an ice skating rink that charge a fee.

Wonderland Lisboa is also a place of kindness and giving. Every year, the event runs a gift drive for children living in institutions, spreading holiday magic to those who need it most. This simple gesture has a huge impact and reflects the true Christmas spirit that has guided the event since day one.

Both tourists and locals love visiting Wonderland Lisboa, which opens in late November and runs until the first week of January. So if you’re in Lisbon this festive season, be sure to add the Christmas market to your itinerary.

Where is Wonderland Lisboa, and how to get there?

Wonderland Lisboa is located in Parque Eduardo VII, and it’s easiest to reach by public transport or on foot if you stay in central Lisbon.

By Metro:

Take the Blue Line (Linha Azul) to Parque Station. It’s the closest and exits right next to the park.

You can also take the Blue Line to Marquês de Pombal Station (Blue or Yellow Line), which is just a short walk uphill. You will then enter the park through the front entrance.

Night view of the Marquês de Pombal monument in Lisbon, lit with festive decorations and a large illuminated sign reading “Bom Natal”. Golden angels, twinkling lights, and glowing ornaments surround the roundabout, marking the entrance to the Wonderland Lisboa Christmas Market area.

On Foot:

If you’re staying in central Lisbon (Avenida da Liberdade, Baixa, or Bairro Alto), you can also walk to Wonderland Lisbon. It’s a pleasant 10–to 20–minute walk, depending on your location. Since Avenida da Liberdade is also beautifully decorated with Christmas lights, it’s the ideal chance to enjoy both spots in one magical Christmas stroll.

By Bus:

There are also several city buses that stop near the park. Look for routes serving Avenida António Augusto de Aguiar, Rua Marquês de Fronteira or Marquês de Pombal.

By Car:

I would not recommend driving in Lisbon unless absolutely necessary, but it’s an option, of course. Paid street parking is available in the surrounding area, but parking can be a nightmare in the city.

Parking garages are a better option, and there are some nearby, such as Parque Estacionamento Marquês de Pombal. During Christmas, this car park is very busy with visitors and Christmas shoppers.

Highlights and attractions of Wonderland Lisboa

Ferris wheel with city views

One of the biggest highlights (literally) is the iconic Ferris wheel! There is usually a line, but queuing up is worth it! From this height, you enjoy a stunning and unique panoramic view of the city and the Tagus River. If you want to take pictures, it’s actually best to enjoy a ride during the day or at dusk.

The Ferris wheel ride is separately ticketed, and tickets can be purchased on-site. During the day and on weekdays, it’s usually less busy.

Eco ice skating rink

The ice rink is also hard to miss and offers a lot of family fun! So, if you like ice skating, now is the opportunity! There is also a small fee, which can be paid at the rink entrance. It’s a popular activity, so you might have to wait a bit before binding under your ice skates!

The ice rink measures approximately 800 m² and has a capacity for over 100 skaters at a time. There are usually allocated time slots, and ice skate rentals are available.

Santa’s house and kids’ rides

Wonderland Lisboa offers a variety of kids’ entertainment and family-friendly attractions. From kid-friendly merry-go-rounds and bouncing attractions. But the biggest highlight for children? That is, of course, meeting Father Christmas!

Santa Claus has his own house inside the park, called Casa do Pai Natal. It’s a themed festive space for families and children, and Santa’s helpers will ensure that every child has a fantastic time!

The Santa house is part of the free‑entry market, but it does get busy. Arriving earlier in the day often means waiting in line for less time.

Giant Christmas tree

Parque Eduardo VII has some lanes crossing from side to side, and at one of these crossings, you’ll find an enormous Christmas tree. The decorations are different each year, and from the platform, you have an amazing view of the market. It’s the perfect place to take some Christmas pictures!

Craft and food market

While many love the attractions, you can most likely find me near the food and craft stalls. This is an amazing place to find Christmas presents, fashion accessories, local products, handicrafts, home décor, and souvenirs. The wooden stalls and cabins are located on either side of the park.

Visitors stroll through Wonderland Lisboa Christmas Market during the day, passing wooden stalls selling festive gifts and crafts. Leafless trees line the wide path, with a large decorated Christmas tree and Ferris wheel visible in the background.

In addition to the artisan shops, there are numerous food stalls. You can try traditional Portuguese Christmas treats, such as Sonhos (dreams), as well as ham and cheese sandwiches, sausages and other meals. For those with a sweet tooth, try the churros with chocolate or caramel.

You can also enjoy (alcoholic) drinks, such as mulled wine, beer, and cocktails. Or stay warm with a hot chocolate in your hands!

When to go to avoid crowds

From my experience, the best time to come to Wonderland Lisboa is on a Tuesday or Wednesday at dusk. It’s beautifully lit and far less crowded than at weekends. I personally avoid the inauguration weekend and Friday nights, as they tend to be packed and make it harder to enjoy the stalls and rides comfortably.

Accessibility and families

Wonderland Lisboa is wheelchair and stroller-friendly. The park has flat paths and temporary ramps in place. It can get tight during peak hours, but weekdays are much easier to navigate. Temporary toilet facilities are located near the main entrances.

Visit More Christmas Markets

Do you want to enjoy more Christmas markets in Lisbon? I made a great selection so you can easily visit them!

Practical tips from a local

Before moving to Portugal, I lived in Germany. The Christmas markets there are much larger and beautiful! However, while German markets tend to be more adult-focused (think mulled wine and beer stands everywhere), I’ve found Portuguese markets, such as Wonderland Lisboa, to be far more family-friendly, with fewer alcohol vendors and numerous attractions for kids.

Parque Eduardo VII is an open space which catches a bit more wind and is a bit breezy. Dress for chilly evenings and wear layers.

If you plan to shop, pack a small tote bag. Many stalls sell handmade crafts and gifts that are easy to carry but not always bagged.

And don’t miss the Ferris wheel at blue hour (just after sunset). The views of Lisbon’s skyline are gorgeous, and the lights around the park make for perfect photo opportunities.

After seeing Wonderland Lisboa, check out the other Christmas lights in the city! Walk down Avenida da Liberdade, discover the Rossio Square Christmas market and see the lights downtown.

🎄 Enjoy the ultimate Christmas holiday in Lisbon and book a hotel near Avenida da Liberdade. You’ll be within walking distance of all the lights and events. Some of my favourites are:
