You can simply follow me during the Christmas lights photo walk in Lisbon, and I will show you the most beautiful corners of the city while taking your picture against the sparkling lights. There are two ideal time options:
Golden Hour: Start before sunset to soak up Lisbon’s warm natural light, then watch the city sparkle as the Christmas lights flick on.
Recommended start time: 4:30 PM or 5:00 PM (lights come on at 6 PM sharp!). We’ll begin at São Jorge Castle, wander past Miradouro de Santa Luzia, stop by Lisbon Cathedral, discover the alleys of Alfama, and wrap up at the giant Christmas tree in Praça do Comércio.
Sunset and Blue Hour + Night Photography: Prefer Lisbon fully lit up? Go for the 5.30 or 6 PM session to see the city’s festive decorations in Baixa and Chiado. We’ll kick off at Praça do Comércio, stroll through Rua Augusta, visit Praça Luís de Camões, enjoy the Rossio Christmas Market, and finish beneath the glittering trees on Avenida da Liberdade.
After our festive walk, you’ll receive a private gallery with 60 professionally edited photos. Perfect for Christmas cards, keepsakes, or showing off your Lisbon adventure online!

If you prefer being behind the camera, the Christmas photography in Lisbon experience is for you! During a 2.5-hour Christmas Lights Photo Walk, we will explore the best locations to capture stunning images of the decorations.
You’ll receive an easy-to-follow workbook that teaches you more about long exposures, photographing in low-light conditions, and creative techniques.
Please bring your own camera (or use a smartphone) and a tripod if you have one. I’ll guide you through the best angles, photography techniques, compositions, and settings to capture the magic of Lisbon. All workshops are private, and you can personalise them where needed.
The meeting point for the photography workshop is usually at Praça do Comércio and the main Christmas tree. We then make our way to Rua Augusta and Armazéns do Chiado, where we see the unique light displays at Praça Luís de Camões. We will continue towards the Rossio Square Christmas market and Avenida da Liberdade. Time permitting, we end at Wonderland Lisboa and the Ferris wheel.

Catch the blue hour: The most magical time for Christmas photos in Lisbon? Just after sunset, during blue hour. The sky turns a soft indigo, and the lights begin to twinkle!
Wear layers: Evenings in Lisbon can get surprisingly chilly, especially if there’s a breeze. A warm jacket means you’ll be comfortable and relaxed in your photos.
Aim for weekdays: Want quieter streets and cleaner backgrounds? Skip the weekend crowds and book your shoot on a weekday for a more intimate experience.
Tripod = Your Best Friend: Joining the photo walk and shooting your own pics? Don’t forget your tripod! Lisbon’s festive lights are stunning, but they shine best with a steady hand (or tripod legs).

When are Lisbon’s Christmas lights turned on?
Usually, the Christmas lights illuminate from late November to early January. The lights are turned on daily at 6 PM. The main areas include Praça do Comércio, the Baixa neighbourhood, and Avenida da Liberdade.
Do I need professional experience for the photo walking tour?
Not at all, and all skill levels are welcome. Whether you’re a beginner or expert, you’ll receive personalised guidance and learn more about night photography, composition and creative photography techniques. You will have to bring your own camera or smartphone to capture the stunning decorations.
Can I book a private Christmas photo shoot?
Yes, all Christmas sessions are private to give you a relaxed experience and personalised attention. Currently, I don’t offer group tours.
What if it rains during my photo shoot?
The weather in Lisbon can be unpredictable in the colder months. If rain is in the forecast, don’t worry! I always keep an eye on the weather and will reach out to reschedule if conditions aren’t ideal. If we can’t find a new time that works for you, you’ll receive a full refund. No stress, no surprises.
Do you offer gift vouchers for Christmas shoots?
Yes! Photography gift vouchers are available! Just let me know who it’s for, and I’ll personalise the voucher so it’s ready to gift!
What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel your Christmas shoot up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund, no questions asked. If you need to reschedule, just reach out and we’ll find a new time that works for you (subject to availability). For last-minute cancellations (within 24 hours) and no-shows, I unfortunately can’t offer a refund unless we’re able to rebook the slot. You can learn more in the Terms and Conditions.
